USA Today story: Norwegian Air will fly from the U.S. to Rome.

Newark Liberty-Rome: Begins Nov. 9 with four flights a week. Schedule increases to six weekly flights in February.

Los Angeles-Rome: Begins Nov. 11 with twice weekly service. Schedule increases to three flights a week in February.

Oakland-Rome: Begins Feb. 6 with two flights a week.

Some fares of under $400 round trip can be found, but seat assignments, checked bags, and food and drink (including snacks and non-alcoholic drinks) cost extra. I think the combined carry-on and personal item are limited to a weight of 10 kilos.

Exciting news Andrew! Even with paying extra fees, it will be significantly cheaper than my usual options!

I am excited to try Norwegian air as United is my only option to Italy right now from Newark. Their premium economy prices are quite good too, compared to what I usually pay on United.
