Paris Apt. 4th or 6th/PVA or Paris Perfect

My daughter and I stayed in the 7th with Paris Vacation Apts. last October. We were very close to St. Germain, just next to the Solferino Metro. Fabulous agency with reams of information I printed out and read/packed. Now I would like to take my husband next March for an 80th birthday surprise gift.

I just booked my air for March 17-28 and am again searching apts. PVA offers 3 that are of interest to me, here in order of interest, the first two both available for my time frame and sort of tied for first place.

This one is new and I hesitate only because I really liked the 6th/7th border area.

Finally~Paris Perfect, while very pricey in comparison to PVA, has a few one bedrooms in or near the 6th. Does anyone have any reference or reviews of these? Are they worth the price difference?

Thanks for any input.

All those apts look very nice... and I would normally encourage you to try the Marais, just because I like to stay in different neighborhoods in Paris... a good way to get around new parts of the city. But do note that the Marais apt says "no elevator". I'd check on how many flights up it is... too many can be discouraging after a day of walking around.
Also, is there any way to check locations more closely on a map... again, how far to the Metro, etc?
If you are most comfortable in the 6th, maybe that's a reason to go for one of those (not to mention the elevators!)

Have a great birthday trip

I have had contact with the owners of Paris Perfect for many years and they run a good agency. They also have Italy Perfect and London Perfect. I have not rented from them but have talked to many people who have and liked the apartments.

I rented a fabulous apartment from Haven in Paris several years ago. It was very expensive, but very historic and in a great location. It looks like they don't have the one I rented (in the 5th, beside the Cluny), but they have very special apartments.

Google Street View is my best friend when looking at vacation rentals. I love to walk all around and really "see" where it is.

I love the wood floors and windows of the first one - enchanting one bedroom. And I love that second one too - chic one bedroom. What a lovely look from the street too! I don't know that neighborhood, but that is where I want to stay on our next Paris trip. We were near the intersection of St. Germain and St. Michel, not so far from the ones you are looking at. I liked that side of the river.

Enchanting says first floor, Chic says elevator but does not say which floor, and as Karen pointed out the Marais says no elevator. I would ask for more details on all of them. Do the windows overlook the street? I like to look out and see the action. How high up?

Keep posting your short list - such nice apartments!!

I like that neighborhood! Both say they are on interior courtyards, which is almost always much quieter. I would ask for addresses of both so you can see exactly where they are. The second one says it is near Rue du Bac, which is a little closer to the 6th/7th border area.

Thank you for the replies. I feel a little bit more confident now. This will be just my 2nd visit to Paris and my husband's 1st.
(Technically, in '89 we did get there, at the tail end of our first European trip..one of those tours where we visited lot's of countries in 3 weeks on a big bus where everyone fell asleep within minutes of driving off, but it doesn't really count~don't remember a thing except the top of the Eiffel tower)

BTW, on the PVA websites, if you scroll down to the bottom of each aparatment's information section you will find a link to a map of the neighborhood and you can pretty much tell where it is located (but I asked anyway). And also at the bottom is a link to the floor plan.

The addresses...for the first one, and the one I'm leaning toward, enchanting one bedroom, is 12 Rue des Beaux Arts.
and it comes in at 195 euro a night.

Second one, chic one bdrm, is at 25 rue de Lille. (and is in the 7th... almost alongside the wonderful D'Orsay) at 175 euro a night.

The one in the Marais is 11 rue de Sevigne and it's on the first floor. I was ready to go with that one when I remembered how comfortable I was on Rue St Dominique and started looking around there for a one bedroom

Another friend is raving about Paris Perfect. We stayed in a London Perfect apt. a few years ago, on Queens Gate. It was the smallest apartment imaginable but with beautiful decor, plushy bed and bedding, gorgeous bathroom etc. etc.. They really know how to decorate and make the most out of the tiniest space.
But, wow their prices, even for March, puts them out of my budget range I'm afraid. I am considering throwing a question their way though and see if the Hi Season price sticks.

Pauline, I do the same thing with google earth. Even better, my sister stayed on Rue St Antoine a few weeks ago and sent photos of the Sevigne one.

Those are all good locations. This is killing me -- now I want to go to Paris immediately!

My husband and I stayed in a London Perfect apartment about 10 years ago in Kensington. This one. It was absolutely gorgeous, and very comfortable except for that couch which looks better than it sits, but really too expensive for me to be totally happy.

I don't even have to look at the link to recognize those steps! My husband had knee problems and just snorted (hell no in Frank speak) when I showed him the photo.

A smarter man than my husband~ who basically just says.."whichever one you want".
And keep in mind those stairs were from the loft bed upstairs to the bathroom downstairs at the end of the hallway! Walk very slowly, hold the rail with both hands and hope you don't go oooops.
But it was gorgeous. ;)

Now I'm happy with the Marais apartment... I stayed in a tiny studio (rented from Rent Paris Now, an agency I like)
in the rue Sevigne 2 years ago... first floor, up only one flight of broad, easy stairs. The neighborhood was good in many ways: away from the clogged streets of Vielle du Temple, Francs Bougeois, etc, but close enough to take walks to markets, Place des Vosges, les Villages St Paul, etc. And the rue St Antoine was convenient for transportation, grocery shopping, having a coffee.

Nice choices to have... like Chris, I'm ready to go back just thinking about it (and I was just there in April!).
