What a wonderful collection of bars/cafes we all found and enjoyed on our travels.

El Ateneo is a beautiful bookstore in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This building used to be a theater and most of its original frescoed ceilings and detailed trimmings remains. The stage is a coffee shop and upstairs there is a small art gallery with an impressive collection.

At one time, probably the most important library in the world - The Library of Alexandria.
The original one was destroyed many centuries ago, the modern structure is well worth a visit if you are in the neighborhood.

This looks fantastic!! wow, what an amazing place.

The librerie.coop bookstore in Piazza Galvani, Bologna.
Galvani was an Italian scientist from Bologna, most noted for his work on biological electricity, and his statue is reflected in the store's entrance. The word "galvanize" is one of the ways in which his influence has been recognized.
We always go into Italian bookstores, at least for a quick peep. Sometimes we come out with a lovely book of recipes for gelati, sometimes a nice children's book - even if they are in Italian, which we can hardly understand....
