Restaurant suggestions near the Piazza del Poppolo in Rome

I am looking for a few restaurant recommendations where the locals would eat near my hotel in the Piazza del Poppolo area of Rome.
All types of menus. Open for lunch and dinner.
Anyone have some favorites to share?
Great pizza places in that area and great gelato too?

Chiaro, in 2011, we enjoyed a couple good meals - including a mouth watering smoked salmon pizza - at Ristorante RAF, via Plinio 17 (corner of via Plinio and via Orazio.) I'd guess about a 15 min walk from Piazza del Poppolo, across the river. I seem to recall it doesn't open until 7:30 for dinner, probably quite normal in Rome but seemed oddly late in our Canadian minds!

Chiaro, Rob and I find ourselves one afternoon on each trip sipping, nibbling, eating pizza or something at Bar Canova in P. Popolo.

I have always admired their buffet, inside at lunch. They have a patio in the back, where I believe there is live music.

A restaurant we tried for the first time last May was a very short walk from P. del Popolo - La Buca di Ripetta. I could see where the service might be difficult, but our meal was very tasty and the waiter was fine with us, though he did a lot of flirting with a table of 3 beauties.

To our notes Il Brillo parlante just went, thank you Sharon Their menu had me saying yes to many of their offerings, another thing for us to look forward to next month

Not sure if it is close to you, but I recommend
Santa Cristina Ristorante.
Via della Coronata 21/22 Tel 06 69925485 , I had the most delicious gnocchi in gorgonzola sauce there. The restaurant was managed by the son, and the Mama did the cooking. Very sweet people, excellent food.
