Sardinia 2018 - Quartu Sant'Elena/Cagliari ?

We stayed in Alghero in 2011 and are wondering about Cagliari or nearby for Summer 2018 (2 weeks).

Has anyone stayed in Quartu Sant'Elena on the outskirts of Cagliari and liked/disliked it ? We'd like to avoid the city centre, but somewhere on the periphery might be suitable. TIA.

OK ... how about Olbia / Costa Smeralda ?

In case anyone's following, I've since trawled the Slow Travel archives and found a couple of unflattering comments about Olbia / Costa Smeralda:

"... I would be inclined to delete Olbia, which is a very, very unattractive city with urban sprawl." 'Sardinia - recommended places to stay?', March 2008

So, Sicily it is ... probably Siracusa (Ortigia)
