Hello folks! My husband and I are planning a short trip to New Orleans May 19-24 (five nights) this spring. We'll be staying in a rental apartment in the Garden District, no car.
We love music, culture, art, architecture, food and odd/strange/off-the-beaten-path things. We don't want to schedule too much since we're hoping to make it a relaxed trip, but if anyone has favorite walking tours, sites, performances, etc I would love to hear it. We're considering taking one of the "Swamp Tours" where they pick you up in the city and then you go out in a pontoon boat or similar, but I haven't investigated what all the options are. We'd like to take a cemetery tour and/or ghost walk so any favorite companies or guides are welcome!
Restaurant suggestions also welcome, though I don't know if we are going to feel comfortable dining inside and I'm not a fan of seafood and don't eat red meat so that limits my interest in traditional foods of the area (I do plan to seek out beignets however!)
