Altho Arezzo is about 90 minutes from us in Umbria, doesn't the train between Florence and Perugia stop at Arezzo? If so, we could stop there on our way back, maybe even spend the night?

Yes, you'd just need to ticket the Florence-Arezzo and Arezzo-Perugia segments separately if stopping for a visit.

I’ve only been there for days trips but I like Arezzo and the frescoes in the church are beautiful. They were featured in the movie “The English Patient”.
