TV - Witness for the Prosecution

Anyone see the BBC production of Witness for the Prosecution....we liked it a lot--great period atmosphere, well written and wonderful acting. We then tried the Billy Wilder/Charles Laughton/Tyrone Power 1957 film and found it unwatchable--much too broad and very dated.

Witness is now available in the US on Acorn...../
 
Yes, I enjoyed it - but of course they put a lot more freight of zeitgeisty significance on it, with some top-notch actors.

It's ages and ages since I saw the 1950s movie, which played it as just a conventional mystery, which was exploded by the basic fact that Marlene Dietrich was always detectable (that's what she was paid for, after all).
