Visiting Ravenna: where to stay?

Finally visiting Ravenna has been on my adult must-see list for longer than I’ll admit. It looks like I’ll get the chance in July this year. I know, summer...but that’s what presents itself! For four nights should I consider Ferrara or somewhere else? Ravenna itself is relatively expensive. We will probably have a car. Suggestions of hotel/B&B/apartments appreciated!

A few years ago we spent two nights in Hotel Centrale Byron. A great location on Via IV Novembre, 14.

Sidney, I'm thinking of spending 2-3 weeks at the Byron in May while I take some Italian lessons. How did you like it? Are there some informal restaurants in the area?
