Oxford has a very good bookstore (an independently owned one - can't remember the name) - you will find everything there, including the Ordnance Survey maps. And if you don't, order from Amazon.co.uk when you are here - books arrive in a couple of days with their free super saver delivery option.

Another place to pickup hiking books is the local tourist offices. Many also sell locally written pamphlets with hikes for the area.
