Accessible Italy

Rome Addict

I have managed to retrieve my accessible Rome article from slow Trav. I have the rough draft for accessible Florence having finally managed to spend 3 months on the ground.

Is there anybody who reads them?

Well it strikes me they might be very useful for new poster Raj, who had discounted Rome due to the steps involved, but this might allow Rome back on the plan?

They can be added as Travel Notes. You can do this yourself, or email me your notes and photos and I will login as you and post them. Photos would be nice if you have any that fit the articles. I remember how good those notes were!

Thanks for the compliment. Photos were embedded in the articles. Will see if I can translate them from slowtrav to slow Europe. If not I will email mail Rome to you and start finishing Florence.

3 months in London might be worthwhile exploring a article there.

On the subject of London accessibility, the tube maps do have an accessibility icon against each station to mark those that are wheelchair accessible - which invariably is saying there is a lift there.

Ian it has been 5 years since I rode the tubes and the signs lied if you are actually 100% confined to a wheelchair. In some stations access is defined as an escalator not an elevator. Hopefully this state of affairs has been corrected. Even Rome now has stair lift in the metro stations.
The problem with "accessible" London is it is just so huge!! Rome for a tourist is pretty limited. London is all over the map.
