Antibes or Villefranche?

Help, Please! I'm really struggling with the last part of our trip. I really want to stay somewhere with an ocean view. I had my heart set on Antibes but it seems most of the ocean view lodging is in Jaun-Les-Pins which doesn't appeal to me with all the modern Buildings all lined up together. Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc is for sure sadly out of our budget. A friend told me to try Villefranche and I can get a room at Welcome Hotel (though a little pricey at 350.00 a night plus 40.00 a night to park our car. ) We can swing that and we would have an ocean front room but I'm still wishing we were in Antibes. I would love to hear from some of you that know the area if it would be better to not have an ocean view and a stay in Antibes over Villefranche? I am also a little concerned with the hills in VilleFranche with my knees.

That was main complaint about Antibes - no sea view. No cafe where you can sit outside and look at the sea. The house we rented was only 50 feet from the sea, but we could not see it from the house. But I enjoyed the town and location.

Villefranche can get a bit overrun with people from cruise ships (I don't know this from my experience but from what I read). Both @jonathan and @Parigi have stayed there in recent years and liked it.

What about Menton? The whole town faces the sea and it might be less pricey. I was choosing between Antibes on Menton on our trip last October and went with Antibes, but Menton would also have been a good choice.

Thanks, Pauline. I'll look at Menton. with this being the end of our time in France I am longing to just sit and relax and look at the sea. As you know, we are usually vacationing in italy and always add the Amalfi Coast to the end of our trips for that same reason.

The situation of the Old Town of Antibes makes it difficult to find a sea view, and that's why we always walked out to Plage de la Garoupe on Cap d'Antibes for lunch on the beach.

The Cap View apartment that I've rented is booked through fall.

I've not stayed here, and don't know your dates, but these apartments, in the modern part of Antibes, have a view and are an easy, flat walk to Old Town. There are no hills, as you find in Villefranche.

Thanks, Cameron! I think looking for a vrbo or airbnb might be the way to go. Thanks for suggesting it. I just wish I could find something that isn't in a modern section. I love the charm and even quirkiness of old architecture.
