Carnevale in Italy

Pauline

Forums Admin
@Valerie posted this on Facebook and I am reposting here.

"It's Carnevale, and Basilicata has some old, interesting traditions! Tricarico plays out the "transhumance," with a costumed herd representing cows and bulls, a rite full of allegory, color and loads of clanging cow bells! See Bryan's brief video of the action!"

It is fun here in Basilicata because the towns are small enough and the events aren't packed, that you can actually be a part of the festival. You can walk along with the costumed locals, they'll kindly oblige for photos and you feel like part of the town.
