Rob and I have had a wonderful stay at Assuntina's Fontana del Papa. This is our fifth/sixth stay, our first time was when we won a two night stay for one of Rob's photo albums in a contest on Slow Travel. We have not stopped coming, nor will we. We love being here, we love everything about being here, we love the family (Assuntina, Luca, Emma, Andrea, and the three four legged lovers), the fabulous food, the cooking classes (though on this trip we only watched and photographed, while others learned), the rooms and the place.

It is all wonderful, plus what a way to enter the country. We say by staying here we enter the country softly.

Lisa et al, yes, Fontana del Papa is not only "divine", but concalma, scrumptious in food and place, beautiful and loved, and sooo much more. Unfortunately, today we must move on to Manoppello and our next chapter of this trip.

We met Assuntina several years ago and she is delightful! This would be a great place to stay when arriving in Italy, or when departing, because it is a short drive from/to the Rome airport.

How many rooms do they have @Wendy&Rob ? Do you have dinner with them or are there restaurants in the town? I have thought about staying there ...

Hi Pauline, I am going to take a stab at this answer without verifying...

When we won the two night stay for Rob's winning photo album on ST we chose the Junior Suite - a terrific space that was/is very private, now we stay in a room with the original living room and there is another room that can share the LR. I believe there are three other rooms, which brings that up to 5 to 6. It is possible there is/are a couple more, please verify with the Fontana del Papa website.

Regarding meals, we had all four night's dinner at F.delP. and 3 of the 4 lunches, as well. We went in to town for one lunch. There are several very good spots, we returned for our fifth, maybe sixth meal over the years, to La Caballera. (I think I have written a review in the past for it. Lots of food if you aren't careful about ordering.)

Bottom line, we LOVE entering Italy via Fontana del Papa. It is the sweetest of ways, indeed. Molto dolce.
