I may start off with a general England guidebook for our stay next summer, but eventually I'll want guidebooks for specific areas. Many of the regional guidebooks I'm seeing on Amazon are older editions, and altho castles and villages don't change, updated websites and contact info are always appreciated. Anyway, I've ordered 2 books to start off with, one is called "Go Slow England". It was only $1, and if it gives me any ideas at all I'm way ahead of the game!
The second book I ordered was Rough Guide's Dorset, Hampshire and Isle of Wight guide, because this is the one area I know we'll visit!
I also have the Rick Steves' England book, and altho not comprehensive, if it covers an area that appeals to me, I'll be happy!
