Le Marche Mini Vacation

We'll only have 3 weeks in Umbria this fall, but we'd really like to visit Urbino in Le Marche I think we'll plan for Urbino 4 or 5 nights after we arrive in Umbria, just to get over jet lag. So - first question- 2 nights in Urbino, or 3?

We spent 9 nights at Valle Nuova last September. Urbino is a small town - a couple of hours to walk around, a couple of hours in the art museum. But there is a lot to do in this area. If you stay at Valle Nuova, it is just 20mins by car to Urbino. Or are you staying in Urbino?

Now we have to figure out when to schedule those 3 nights. We'll arrive at FCO on Thurs, Oct 13. We depart on a transatlantic cruise home on Nov, 3, 3 weeks later. We'll definitely want to be in Umbria at the end of our stay, for the drive back to Civitavecchia, and our first few days will be spend setting in and getting over jet lag.

I don't think the market is a big deal for us, so we can arrive/depart any day of the week. Time to look at the calendar! @Giulia da Urbino, what works for you?

I'd say the earlier the better, just thinking about weather... mid October is likely less cold and rainy than the end of October, while weather in Umbria keeps a bit longer (usually.... nowadays you can't really tell!)
During Sant'Angelo in Vado truffle fair (every weekend in October) you can visit Domus del Mito, a quite interesting roman domus with amazing mosaics that is usually difficult to see...

OK, thanks. Yes, we'd love to see the Roman mosaics, so we'll need to be there on the weekend. Can we visit Saturday AND Sunday, or is it open only one day?

I think trying to arrive for our first weekend there (Oct 15/16) is pushing it, so we'd have to wait until the next weekend. Should we plan for Fri/Sat/Sun, or Sat/Sun/Mon?

I think that Fri/Sat/Sun or Thur/Fri/Sat (I'm checking about the possibility of visiting the Domus on Saturday... they change everything every now and then) is better since some places close on Mondays. There will not be a lot of people around so the weekend is definitely the most lively time without being too busy.

Sorry for the delay but I was trying to contact the Tourist office in Sant'Angelo in Vado to double check about the Saturday opening... No need to say that they did not reply my email.
I now wrote to the guide directly and hopefully I'll have an answer soon.
Other than that, either day is fine for us.
I'll write again as soon as I know something from Sant'Angelo
