We are staying in the most beautiful cottage. Bolt in the Hole. It is much larger than the pics made it seem. It's fitted out to the highest standard. Extremely clean with many thoughtful touches. perfect for 2. And the village is great. We tootled off to Nailsworth for some supplies. What a busy town. We couldn't find a parking space and before we knew it, we were on a narrow road that we couldn't exit. Well eventually we did and returned to Nailsworth and found a spot. went to a lovely fruit and beg shop. Bramley I believe.
Anyway, what can I say but am totally in love. It's beautiful here and our little place is divine. We think we may return in October
We're going to do 1 of the walks Pauline recommended tomorrow. Sapperton-Golden Valley.

We lived down on of those narrow lanes in Nailsworth for 1 1/2 years! Not the one you found. I think I know where you drove. Great shopping in Nailsworth. Hobbes bakery by the war memorial is very good.

Sapperton is a pretty village and I think you will enjoy the walk. Have fun!

Welcome to the area! You've got a nice day for your walk, and the Golden Valley between Chalford and Sapperton is one of my favourite spots. The Daneway Inn, just near the canal a little bit west of Sapperton, is a nice pub. And the Butcher's Arms, Oakridge Lynch (north of the canal) does the best gastropub food in the Stroud area.

If you're around tomorrow morning, do try Stroud Farmers' Market: justly famous!

Thanks Jonathan, We're planning on going to the Stroud Market tomorrow. We like where we are so much that we've booked it again Oct 8 for 4 days.

Pauline we may yet get to go for a walk in the Cotswolds together. Unless you're traveling again.

We did the walk. it was wonderful. We went to The Bell in Sapperton for a beer afterwards.

Walking through Sapperton, I felt like I'd gone back in time. Not just b/c of how old the buildings are, but b/c the kids in the primary school were having recess. They were running about and shouting and playing like little children should and that school was a wonder to behold. Somehow, it made me feel like I was in a time warp circa 1952 or thereabouts. I don't know why.

We then went to Waitrose and did a huge shop. Our rental car is full of staples and such. Haven't bought so many groceries at once in years.

When we got back to Minchinhampton the cows were on the loose. Oh my. I thought they only grazed on the Commons. But they were everywhere. Everwhere!! I took pics to compete with the cows of Switzerland that Pauline has posted:) We'll see if I upload them.

The roads are pretty wild. But lovin it here.

You were at our Waitrose!

Were the cows in the town? I have never seen that. I have seen them far down on the "W", the roads that winds down to Nailsworth.

We will see you in October. We have no more trips scheduled this year.

Yes!!! The cows were in the town. It was quite a sight. Now I know why everyone has a grate over their front driveway. They were on the lawns, in the streets, everywhere. At the same time 2 women were riding horseback through town. They said " aren't we lucky to live here."

Cows roaming in the town.

I couldn't figure out how to write a caption after uploading pics so here is a little correction. They weren't on the lawns as that is what the grate is for to prevent them going on people's private property. Obviously! They were just everywhere else. It looks cute. But would I want cow dung on my sidwalk and roads? Does someone go around with a huge poop n scoop? Just sayin...
