I was initially disappointed when I read this to discover that I'm too old to participate in the program (it's for those under 40) but delighted later to read that even the Italian government has adopted Pauline's language and philosophy of slow travel:

The objective is to renovate and reuse buildings/properties as the ‘containers’ for genuine services and experiences, strongly rooted in the territory, for walkers, pilgrims and cyclists, in line with the philosophy of slow travel.
It's "slow travel" in the Italian version as well. You can read the rest of the article here: http://www.agenziademanio.it/opencms/it/ValorePaese/camminiepercorsi/camminipercorsiinglese/

They are defining slow travel as literally slow - walking, cycling. That is probably a better definition than the one I struggled to give it in the SlowTrav years, where it meant staying in vacation rentals.

Ah to be under 40, for many reasons! I love the idea of this project. Thanks for posting the link. Hiking/walking in Italy has become more popular in the last decade and that is great news.
