On our recent trip to Lazio, Umbria and Le Marche, we hunted out many remains of Via Flaminia, the ancient Roman Road that ran from Rome to the Adriatic coast. One of the sites we visited were two Roman Tombs on the outskirts of Foligno.

My photos and notes are here: Via Flaminia - Foligno Tombs

I recently heard from Daniele Bevanati who lives in Foligno and has started a Facebook page to help preserve the two tombs near Foligno. They are building a petrol station beside the tomb that is closest to Foligno.

A few more details from Daniele:

A petrol station is to be built very close to the tomb. Archaeologists have explored the site and found skeletons and foundations of a building connected to the tomb. Daniele is trying to get support from people to show the local authorities that the petrol station should not be built so close to the tomb.
