Really terrific series now available on the BBC iPlayer....Sherwood. Based on a true story and ostensibly a police procedural, it is very effective in demonstrating the lingering effect of labor strife in the 1980s on a small community near Nottingham. We have watched four of the six episodes and can't wait to finish it today.

Just to confuse you further, there's Neil Morrissey (no relation to either AFAIK), who was in Men Behaving Badly, Line of Duty, and quite a lot of other things.

I don't think it's a spoiler to say the interest in Sherwood isn't so much the whodunnit as the long shadow of the miners' strike and the intra- (and inter-) family drama that resulted.

We liked this series! A good mystery (as Patrick says it is more about why than who) and a great setting in a village with memories of the miners’ strike.
