Top of the Lake: China Girl by Jane Campion and starring Elizabeth Moss and Nicole Kidman started here this week and the first episode was excellent.

We did watch Season 2 when it was on BBC...and while we enjoyed it, it was pretty over the top. Great acting however and we devoured the whole thing in a couple of days.

This was recently on Sundance. Interestingly they showed it in three consecutive nights - 2 episodes per night. I agree with Jim - it was over the top. We enjoyed it but felt there were a lot of credibility gaps along with some items that didn't fully resolve. I'm not certain if I would watch a 3rd season. I did really like the first season.

It was pretty unbelievable.
I enjoyed the first series and the acting was good in the second series, however the coincidences couldn't stand up.
