When I asked for a room with a view, I was expecting something a little different

I've seen those doors but only remembered them once you said where they were!

We stayed/lived in a rented house in Sarlat-la-Canéda for four weeks in 2006. Here's part of that house -

We stayed for a week in a small studio apartment at the top of a tower just steps from the main Plaza! 103 steps up a circular staircase to get to the apartment! I could not do those stairs nowadays, what with my bum knee .

Our studio apartment was on the back right side of the buildling with the turret tower.

Here's a couple of photos of the apartment. It was a great place, right in the center of Sarlat!

Took that photo last year. Ghent is nice but still prefer Bruges for a long stay.

That has got to be England by the figures in the statue and the information sign behind.

You are correct Pauline, but the United Kingdom is a big place...
Can you narrow it down a little further?

Maybe it is in a seaside town. These children (in the statue) could be wading in the sea. There is a seagull in the photo.

Hint time... The statue is cast in bronze, but very likely the real life figures the statue remembers may have been pretty close to same color at the end of the day. And Pauline you are getting very close
