When I started these forums a few years ago I didn't want to step on the toes of SlowTalk, so called our get togethers "meetups" instead of what we used on SlowTalk, "GTGs".

Let's do a survey to see if we want to call them GTGs now that there are no toes to step on.

Does anyone remember who invented GTGs? I think it was Gavin from Australia (that's how I remember it), many years ago.

I remember the term GTG being used on Travel-L, my first Internet travel discussion group, which I joined in 1992 and was based on a university server in Turkey. I think Gavin was a member.

I like GTG, but we'd have to make sure it was explained for anyone who wasn't familiar with the term.

To go by precedent, the SlowTrav boards are still up, and they have the forum name "Slow Travel GTGs (get togethers)."

I just voted (and hope you are still counting votes, we were out of Internet space for the weekend), GTG!!!
It is hard to teach an old dog new tricks, and terms.
MUP Charity. Funny. We hope you and Bill are well. Would love to have a GTG to see the two of you. W.
