Certainly from that era, but quite a way from Northern Germany

Either somewhere on the French coast as part of the Atlantic Wall - or Jersey.

Correct. North West Jersey - I think the island in the background may be Sark.

I've not been here, but I'm fairly sure I've seen several photos.
Apart from travel, another great love is football (soccer). Some of the group of friends that I go to games with tend to be quite political, and adopted a famously anti fascist side as their 2nd team. Every winter, they will head off to watch St Pauli - and they never seem to be able to resist taking a picture of the "ship on a stick".

If I'm wrong, the above story makes no sense at all, but I think it is the Rathaus in Hamburg.

It is Portugal - this is a moderately famous building.

Yes - it's quite amazing, if you're not expecting it, to walk into a station and see such beautiful tiles.
